A new broadband voucher scheme arising from a partnership between the Welsh and UK Governments has been welcomed by Kirsty Williams AM.
The ‘Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme’ is part of efforts to connect homes which still cannot access superfast broadband. Funding is available of up to £5,500 per business and up to £800 per residential property.
Kirsty has encouraged communities still struggling with access to consider if the scheme could benefit them.
Kirsty Williams, Welsh Liberal Democrat Assembly Member for Brecon and Radnorshire, said:
“The problems in securing fast, reliable broadband are clearly demonstrated in the volume of calls and emails coming into my office from people trying to secure assistance.
“It goes without saying that broadband is an essential part of people’s lives, which is why difficulties are so frustrating and improvements are so badly needed.
“In January we received further details of broadband investment in Powys through the successor project to Superfast Cymru. Of course many businesses and homes still struggle for service and I welcome the availability of different approaches. This new source of funding is worth considering for communities who are still struggling with broadband access.”
