The Powys section of the Heart of Wales walking trail has been officially launched in Llandrindod Wells.
Kirsty joined a number of guests in a ceremony to mark the opening, which sees the completion of the 141-mile trail that runs from Shropshire to Carmarthenshire. The route loosely follows the Heart of Wales railway line.
The opening is part of efforts to promote walking tourism in the area, bringing visitors to the area and a boost to the local economy.
Kirsty Williams, Welsh Liberal Democrat Assembly Member for Brecon and Radnorshire, said:
“I was delighted to attend the opening of the trail and want to put on record my thanks to those involved in the trail, especially the organisers and the volunteers who helped to provide the funding.
“Showcasing the beautiful scenery we have in Brecon and Radnorshire is so important. The trail should help bring visitors to the area, increase footfall in local businesses and boost the local economy.”
