Kirsty Williams AM launched the new Healthy Home Service in Bronllys, aimed at preventing falls, trips and slips in the home for older people across Powys. It also looks at other areas within the home with the aim of enabling older people to remain living safely and with independence. It aims to reduce hospital admissions and enable the safer discharge of patients.
Commenting on the launch, Kirsty said:
"I was pleased to have the opportunity to help launch the Healthy Home Service in Bronllys, which will be delivered by Care and Repair in Powys".
"The service is aimed at keeping older people living safely and independently in their homes. Preventing falls, trips and slips can reduce the pressure on Hospitals, which is particularly important at this time of year".
"Simple adaptations, such as a handrail, can often make a huge difference".
"The service is supported by Powys County Council, Powys Teaching Health Board, and the Welsh Government through the Intermediate Care Fund".
"If a safer home would benefit you, or anyone you know, I would encourage you to get in touch with the Healthy Home Service".
