Changes to opening times of waste and recycling centres

Powys County Council have announced changes to the opening days and times of waste and recycling centres.

In January they announced they were shelving plans to close recycling centres, but indicated other changes would be made, including reducing the number of days recycling centres are open.

The changes come into force from Monday 3rd April, and apply to centres in Lower Cwmtwrch, Brecon, Llandegley, Newtown and Welshpool.

The new opening days/times will be:

  • Lower Cwmtwrch: Thursday and Fridays (9am-5pm); Saturdays (9am-4pm)
  • Brecon: Monday and Tuesday (9am-5pm); Sundays (9am-4pm)
  • Llandegley: Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturdays (10am-4pm)
  • Newtown: Tuesday and Thursdays (9am-5pm); Sundays (9am-4pm)
  • Welshpool: Monday and Fridays (9am-5pm); Saturdays (9am-4pm)

There are also new restrictions on the type of vehicles that can access the centres, and changes to trade waste recycling permits. Powys’ full statement can be found here.
