The Welsh Government Supplementary Budget contained a £2.5million commitment to fund repairs to the Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal.
The full project is still being finalised but the work will include: securing the embankment at Llangattock, work to the Talybont aqueduct and various improvements to wildlife habitats along the canal.
Commenting on the news: Kirsty Williams, Welsh Liberal Democrat AM for Brecon and Radnorshire, said:
“This is great news for one of this areas key tourist attractions. The Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal is widely recognised as one of the most beautiful waterways in the whole UK and this investment will help ensure it has a long and bright future.”
“I look forward to seeing how the project progresses over the coming months and years.”
