Welsh Government respond to Kirsty’s Benson Heating plea

Following from Kirsty Williams’ urgent request to meet the Welsh Government to look into what can be done to protect the 42 jobs at Benson Heating in Knighton, Kirsty has had a written response from Edwina Hart, the Minister for the Economy, Science and Transport.

The letter says that “This is an unsettling time for the company and its employees and my officials are engaged in discussions with the Company in the UK and the arm of the American based Nortek Group seeking to explore all options to retain manufacturing at the site and safeguard the jobs."

Commenting, Kirsty Williams said:

“I am pleased that the Welsh Government is taking an interest in this issue. This will be a very worrying time for the employees.

“I understand there will be a meeting today (Wednesday) between Benson Heating, AmbiRad and a representative of Nortek by Teleconference. It is vital that we continue to make the case for this site for the sake of the employees, their families and the entire community.”
