AM and Councillor visit threatened Day Centre

12.00.00am GMT Wed 24th Feb 2010

Kirsty Williams AM for Brecon and Radnorshire and Liberal Democrat County Councillor for Rhayader Kelvyn Curry on Monday (22nd February) visited the Hafan Day Centre in Rhayader, which is facing a funding crisis.

Kirsty Williams said: "The staff and volunteers at the centre provide a wonderful service for the people that use it, and it is vital that provision remains in the town. Both Councillor Curry and I are engaging with both Powys County Council and the Welsh Assembly Government to ensure that we can maintain the services that the Day Centre provides."

Rhayader County Councillor Kelvyn Curry said: "We are looking at a number of possible options at either its present or alternative locations. I have a meeting this Friday with senior Powys County Council officers to discuss these options and the issues regarding funding. The Day Centre is an essential service to Rhayader and district and we are determined to retain it".
