AM welcomes new park homes standards

The Assembly Government will today announce the revised Model Standards for Caravan Sites in Wales, which will provide good practice and guidance for park homes in Wales.

The document makes provisions for standards on issues from Sanitation, maintenance and density, to fire safety, flooding and fuel supply

Kirsty Williams AM for Brecon & Radnorshire said: "I welcome that the WAG has revised the model standards and has taken action to strengthen it by using more forceful and compulsory language.

"My concern now is that the Standards must be enforced and the WAG must work closely with the local authorities to ensure that they have the knowledge and resources to do so.

"We are moving towards improved rights for park home residents but further action is still needed on issues such as dispute resolution, to ensure that the numbers of vulnerable and elderly residents currently taken advantage of by rogue park home owners have greater legal and political protection."
