Cllr calls for Improved Bus Service to Park Home12.38.53pm UTC (GMT +0000) Mon 20th Aug 2007 Welsh Liberal Democrat Powys County Cllr has been working with Lib Dem colleague Kirsty Williams AM to push the Local Authority to reinstate an early morning bus service stopping at Caerwnon Park. Previously the first service of the day from the Park Home to Builth Wells picked passengers up at 9.00am, but this timetable was recently altered so that the first bus of the day now arrives at 10.48am. Cllr Les Davies said: "This change to the timetable has greatly disrupted the many elderly and car-less residents needing the early morning bus to attend the Builth and Llanwrtyd Medical Practice where there is an 'open access appointments' system between 9.00 and 10.00 am. The change has also meant that connections cannot be met for the Brecon and Abergavenny bus." "The problem is only going to worsen as the Park Owner has just gained permission to install a further 75 park homes and this will mean that there will potentially be even more marooned residents." "My Lib Dem colleague Kirsty Williams AM has met with the Park Residents Association and as a result has made representations to the council. I have met with officers to discuss their proposals for a replacement service; whereby the Builth bus would be extended to provide the service to Caerwnon first thing in the morning. Both Kirsty and I will maintain our pressure to ensure that this proposition is implemented and that the often vulnerable Caerwnon Park residents are not left stranded." Notes: Ends/diwedd
