Welsh Liberal Democrat AM for Brecon and Radnorshire, Kirsty Williams, has welcomed a report by Healthcare Inspectorate Wales into Powys Local Health Board's maternity services.
The review considered a number of areas, including clinical leadership, teamwork, clinical care and the experience and involvement of women and their families, and the inspectors were very pleased with what they found.
Ms Williams said: "This is a positive review for the LHB which highlights the good standard delivered by our maternity service. It is impossible to underestimate the important role that midwives play, and it is vital that women and their families can have confidence in the service they will receive. This report should act as reassurance that our maternity department is providing that level of care, and I commend all the staff on their hard work and dedication to their jobs."
