Local AM welcomes new ambulance station for Bronllys

1.10.04pm UTC (GMT +0000) Thu 22nd Feb 2007

Welsh Liberal Democrat AM for Brecon and Radnorshire, Kirsty Williams, has welcomed the news that a temporary ambulance station is to be constructed at Bronllys hospital.

The current ambulance station is unsuitable, for reasons of health and safety, and there had been fears that the ambulance would have to be withdrawn from the area altogether.

Ms Williams said: "I have been extremely concerned, as I know many of my constituents have been, at the prospect of losing the ambulance service from this area, and have been campaigning for a solution to be found. I was delighted to hear, therefore, that a temporary structure is to be constructed on the site, enabling the ambulance provision to continue.

"Right across the constituency we are having to fight hard to ensure a decent level of health provision is available in our communities. Good news is rare, so I am delighted that we have some today, and hope that this is only the start of a new and sustainable future for health care in our area."
