Llanbister is one of the first places to benefit from a NatWest scheme to install 50 free-to-use cash machines in Welsh Post Offices.

Ms Williams said: "The Post Office, particularly in rural areas, is under enormous pressure at the moment, following the Government's decision to axe the Post Office Card Account and to cut its subsidy for the network.

"Innovative schemes like this, which will draw customers into the Post Office, as well as providing a valuable service for the local community, are just what's needed, and I congratulate Patricia Allen, the proprietor at Llanbister, for responded to NatWest's scheme."
