Welsh Liberal Democrat AM for Brecon and Radnorshire, Kirsty Williams, has visited a new centre in Knighton, which aims to transform the town into an exemplar of environmentally friendly living.

The Teme Valley Energy Centre offers advice on energy efficiency, and measures to reduce our 'carbon footprint'.

Ms Williams said: "This is an exciting new development for Knighton, and I wish the centre every success in its future development. Energy efficiency is becoming increasingly important to us all, both in terms of the high fuel bills many people struggle to pay, and the increasing public awareness of the need to take steps to tackle global warming and climate change.

"These 'green' issues can either be seen as a challenge, or as an opportunity; the work done by this centre can lay the foundations for a really positive future for Knighton. I would encourage as many local people and businesses as possible to get involved with the project, and to see what steps they can take to become more energy efficient and reduce their carbon footprint."
