Welsh Liberal Democrat AM for Brecon and Radnorshire, Kirsty Williams, has joined the campaign to refurbish Oakfield Drive recreation ground.
Following a recent visit to the site with Crickhowell councillor John Morris, the local AM has written to Powys County Council to express her concerns about the poor state of the park.
Ms Williams said: "Local parks and play areas are truly important places, bringing mothers and children together to socialise and interact. It is hard to imagine how much 'positive play' could take place in a park such as Oakfield Drive, however - it is truly depressing, with much of the play equipment missing, and the rest of it old and uncared for. The local people deserve better."
Cllr Morris said: "I am delighted that Kirsty has added her support to my campaign to see the ground re-vamped. It is an issue that many in the community feel strongly about, and I hope to work with the Council to find a way to turn the site from a local eyesore into a place where families can play happily and safely."
