Welsh Liberal Democrat AM for Brecon and Radnorshire, Kirsty Williams, has lent her support to a national campaign aiming to raise the profile of fostering and highlight the need for more foster carers.
On any one day, around 3,000 children and young people are living in foster homes in Wales, but there is currently an estimated shortage of almost 750 foster families. The Fostering Network's Foster Care Fortnight hopes to recognise the achievements of children raised in foster care, while encouraging more potential foster parents to come forward.
Ms Williams said: "I would like to take this opportunity to applaud the invaluable work done by foster parents across Wales. At what is often an extremely difficult time for the children involved, these men and women provide the stability and care they need. I would urge anyone considering being a foster carer to contact the Fostering Network, who can help you decide if fostering is the right choice for you."
