Another post office closure4.31.06pm UTC (GMT +0000) Wed 29th Mar 2006 Welsh Liberal Democrat AM for Brecon and Radnorshire, Kirsty Williams, has expressed her disappointment in learning that the Post Office in Llanfihangel Talyllyn is to shut. The branch, located in the Black Cock Inn, will close on 15th May, following the resignation of the subpostmaster. The Post Office is urging any individuals who might be interested in running a branch in the village to contact their recruitment team. Ms Williams said: "This is not, of course, the first post office closure in the area, and I have no doubt that it will not be the last. Labour has continually undermined the post office network, most recently with the Westminster Government's plans to axe the post office card account and to cut their passport checking facility. Under these circumstances, how can local post offices be expected to survive? "I have recently written to every post office in the constituency about these issues. I hope to travel to London soon, to present their responses, and the mass of correspondence I have received from constituents on the matter, to the Minister responsible. Local Post Offices are a most valued resource, and we must show the Labour Government that the people of Brecon and Radnorshire do not intend to give them up without a fight."
