Local AM on the tourist trail

12.00.00am UTC (GMT +0000) Wed 22nd Mar 2006

Welsh Liberal Democrat AM for Brecon and Radnorshire, Kirsty Williams, has lent her support to the Deanery of Hay's new tourist trail.

The Deanery has produced a leaflet which draws visitors' attention to churches in the area, and highlights features of interest.

Ms Williams said: "I hope that this leaflet will encourage more people to take the time to visit the beautiful and historic churches in the Deanery. They make up an important part of our cultural heritage, but are sometimes skipped over by tourists heading straight to museums or castles. The trail could also make a great day out for local people, who may not be aware of all that these magnificent buildings have to offer."
