Social Services Review

9.41.00am UTC (GMT +0000) Thu 2nd Mar 2006

Welsh Liberal Democrat AM for Brecon and Radnorshire, Kirsty Williams, has expressed concern at the findings of a review of social services in Powys.

The review, undertaken by the Social Services Inspectorate for Wales and the Wales Audit Office, concluded that the council had much work to do in order to ensure it met the needs of vulnerable people, and highlighted particular problems in the area of children's services.

Ms Williams said: "I am clearly very concerned by the findings of this review. Unfortunately, their conclusions are also reflected in the casework that I have dealt with over the years. I very much hope that Powys County Council will take the review's recommendations on board and act swiftly to improve the services it offers to the most needy in our society."
