Kirsty Williams is fighting against Council proposals to take recycling facilities out of Lower Cwmtwrch and the Ystradgynlais area.

Powys County Council are considering closing the Household Waste Recycling Centre in Lower Cwmtwrch. After moving to three-weekly black bin collections with the supposed aim of increasing recycling rates, it is nonsensical to then close facilities where people can recycle.

Update - on 31/01/17 Powys County Council shelved plans to close recycling centres for a year, saying "the public have made their views very clear". They indicated they will pursue other cost-saving measures, including reducing the number of days recycling centres are open, changes to trade waste permits and more restricted commercial use.
